Apparently, this article best describes my parents' relationship. My dad is working as a taxi driver, earning $1000 plus per month. Whereas, my mum is working as an area manager in a cosmetic company earning $4000 plus per month. Their marriage is definitely still working well! However, there are bound to be some problems happening as no relationship is ever perfect in any way.
My dad didn't feel this way until the economic crisis happened, inferior. He felt that as the man of the house, he couldn't help to bear some burdens my mum was facing or even be the main contributor to our family's income. That molds my dad slowly into someone with low confidence of himself, having diagnosed with inferiority complex which is a feeling that one is inferior to others in some way.
My parents' example could be just the minority given that the new generation is not as traditional as certain people. But, i must say that there has been a stereotype built in today's society for woman that man has to be of higher status than the woman. It's quite contradicting though as we, woman, still have this desire to be the most powerful person in the company or even in the world. Do you see the link?
For the man, they seem to be alright with woman being of higher status. Honestly i do not understand why because i can't be in their shoes. All i can say is that, that's the difference between man and woman and that's what attracts us.
