2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico
BP has not been handling the oil spill the most efficient way. Even after a few weeks after the oil spill. The progress of cleaning up the oil spill is slow.
No doubt the cost of cleaning up oil spills is high. But the damage done to the environment is sometimes irreversible and will take a longer time to get back to how it used to be.
BP should consider hiring more manpower, to help clear the oil. Advance technology can also be used to improve the conditions.
The oil spill has also shown people, what kind of company BP is. To me, BP is very inconsiderate as they delayed the cleaning up of oil spills. Causing many more innocent animals to die. Some of these animals could be endangered species as well. By causing animals such as fishes to die, it affects the livelihood of fishermen, as people would start avoiding fish as they are afraid they might be contaminated. Resulting in the decrease in sales of fishes.
Last but not least, BP should make up for all the damages done.

2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico
Adm No: 105855z
It was one of the most devastating disaster that has happened. One of the shocking statement which i have found out from this article, is that the company knew that they are facing major problem with the oil rig. They should have dealt with it and take precaution.
Due to their lack of efficiency, they have caused many inconvenience to people and caused many sea creatures to bear the consequences.
I hope that all the other oil companies would take this as a lesson and maybe a wake up call for some, to start taking precaution.
I am really affected by this incident. The world is facing so much pollution and this adds on to it vastly. Taking into account that there are sea creatures facing extinction, i really think BP company should pay twice the compensation for the damage done.

2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico - ZhiHao (106657X)
The local people at Mexico of gulf are angry about how BP handle the cleaning up of the oil spills because it affect the wildlife over there. because is killing the animal over there one of the animal is this Rehabilitated Kemps Ridley is being list as Critically Endangered by IUCN Conservation centre because it become homeless after the happen of the oil spill and not being able to clean up on time.
This really affect on people who trying to save the wildlife and here are a few company who trying to raise fund for the wildlife who need help or the cleaning up of the spill because is not cheap to clean up the oil.
There help coming all over the world but is still do not help much as the place will still need to recover by itself after the cleaning up it may take up more than 10year to let the animals to go back to where they belong to.
Let hope there wound not be anymore incident happen to cost wildlife to be cutting down.

2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico
After reading the article on the BP oil spill, it is said that BP is being accused of manipulating search results on google and yahoo as it attempts to salvage its battered image, of what I think, whether its true or not, BP should clean up the oil polluted sea as soon as possible. “Subsea oil plumes have now been discovered as far as 142miles from the damaged rig.” Having oil leakage into the sea, it can kill the marine life, which may lead to endangering the lives of other animals.
Based on the article, it state that the horrific impact this oil spill has had on the wildlife on the Gulf coast, this shows that oil spill can pollute our environment. People will avoid going to the beach. This may result in the decrease of the number of tourist visiting thus leading to the lost of revenue. Fishermen cannot fish as well as well if the sea is not cleaned up properly and thus lose their job. Even if some fishermen were to fish, they sell the fish to the market, those who consumed the fish may end up having food poisoning as well. This is a serious case!
Cleaning up of oil spill is expensive as well.
I do hope that BP or other oil companies will be more careful in handling or transporting of the oil so that this incident will never happen again. We should play a part in saving our environment.

5th Post: 2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico
Many should know that one of the things that aeroplanes cannot carry is oil as it is too heavy. Thus, oil spill often occurs when accidents happened when oil is transported by ship over long distances.
On Saturday, June 12, Day 53 of Gulf of Mexico oil spill that began with the April 20explosion and fire on the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, owned by Transocean Ltd and leased by BP PLC, which is in charge of cleanup and containment. The blast killed 11 workers and about 650,000 gallons of oil has been pouring into the Gulf from a blown-out undersea well a day.
What are the problems caused by the oil spills?
Loads of problems!
The tension between US and Britain, which President Barack Obama reassured Prime Minister David Cameron that his frustration over the oil spill is not an attack as the two leaders tried to soothe trans-Atlantic tensions over the disaster. Cameron’s office said that the two leaders held a ‘warm and constructive’ telephone conversation which prime minister expressed his sadness at the ongoing human and environment catastrophe but stress BP’s economic importance. However, Obama recognized that BP is a multinational company and that frustrations about the oil spill have nothing to do with national identity.
Alabama’s beaches took their worst hit from the oil spill on as brown crude slathered beaches along the coast. On the beach, as much as 4 inches deep of crude oil hit the beach in waves and the surf was a dark, ugly shade of brown. The beaches that normally are packed with people this time of year were virtually deserted. Stinking, dark piles of oil dried in the hot sun, extending as much as 12 feet from the water’s edge for as far as the eye could see. This reduces the country income as tourists avoid coming to the beaches.
The worst problem will be the rising prices of fish worldwide! As United State shrimpers who comb seas unaffected by the oil-slickened Gulf are raising prices as demand for their catch rises, bringing a potential respite from some tough years. Fisherman in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Texas, whose waters have not been affected by oil, say prices for their shrimp have gone up as processing plants that normally buy Gulf seafood turn to other docks for their supply. The federal government has declared fishery disasters for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida which could emergency payments for commercial fishermen.
Save the earth? Try saving our environment first!

2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico
Top Houston attorney Tony Buzbee says that he has new evidence which indicates that Deepwater Horizon’s managers knew that the BP oil rig had major problems before its explosion on April 20th. Subsea oil plumes have now been discovered as far as 142 miles from the damaged rig.
There are stunning new photos emerging which reveal the horrific impact this oil spill has had on the wildlife of the Gulf coast. Local officials in Louisiana are becoming increasingly frustrated about how BP is handling this spill.
A senior BP executive has indicated that the oil washing up on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico could be just the start of a 50-day build-up of pollution. BP is being accused of trying to manipulate the search results on sites like Google and Yahoo, as it attempts to salvage its battered image following the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico.
Is the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico going to fundamentally change the oil and gas business? Matt Simmons, the chairman emeritus of Simmons & Co. International says that BP is “not going to last as a company more than a matter of months.”

PM LEE
PM Lee Hsien Loong gave a speech during a Pre-U Seminar in NUS recently. He mentioned about the 4 challenges that Singapore faces.
Those 4 challenges are the need to upgrade the economy, create a strong education system, build a cohesive society and improve the urban living environment.
We can safely say that we have recovered from the economic crisis which happened last year. Still, there is a need to continue to upgrade the economy. The logic behind is simple, with an increase in GDP, there will be an increase in people’s income and they will have better standard of living which will help to push the economic to higher level as their purchasing power has increased and the cycle repeats. Yet, the challenge is in the doing. To bring our economy to a higher level, Mr Lee encourages foreign workers to be the part of this team. I believe it’s also because we have a limited population, with the help of foreign workers, our economy will increase. I believe he is trying to prepare us so that we won’t have uproar about foreigners stealing locals’ jobs.
Creating a strong education system is achievable, as we can see how the MOE is trying to strike a balance with our education system. There just have to be some minor changes to the current system to make much better.
We have celebrated our National Day every year without fail even if it rains. It’s one of our most joyous celebrations as we commemorate this day where we gain independence. This helps us to build a cohesive society to help maintain peace in our country which is one important key to a prosperous country.
PM Lee outlines 4 key challenges for S'pore at Pre-U Seminar 2010
Singapore has gained its independence 45 years ago, 1965. Since then, Singapore is the world’s fourth leading financial centre, and its economy is often ranked among the world’s top ten most open, competitive and innovative. Singapore is also a highly cosmopolitan world city, with a key role in international trade and finance.
The 4 key challenges that PM Lee outlined are – Upgrade the economy, create a strong education system, build a cohesive society and improve the urban living environment.
Singapore’s economy is contributed mainly by the tourism industry, as well as other industries such as the manufacturing industry. We have recently built two Integrated Resorts (IRs) – Resort World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands. These resorts have facilities such as Universal Studios Singapore, as well as Casinos. By doing so, many tourists have actually specially make a trip down to Singapore to have a look at these resorts.
Personally, I feel that Singapore’s education system is already up to standard. As there are many students whom are complaining that they are stressed out, and are afraid that they will not be given any place in the local university. Many feel that it is unfair, as most of the students in the local university are foreign students. However, I do not feel this way, as I feel that these foreign students have gone through a lot in their life, and all they want is a better future and that they have realized this earlier than Singapore students. I personally feel that Singapore students are lazy, and spoilt.
Singapore already has a diverse populace of 5 million people made up of Chinese, Malays, Indians, Asians and Caucasians of various ethnic origins. Therefore, Singapore should focus on forging deeper bonds among Singaporeans of different races.

4th Post: PM Lee outlines 4 key challenges for S'pore at Pre-U Seminar 2010
Singapore will celebrate its 45th years of independence on 9 August this year. Being an independent nation and the world's fourth leading financial centre, Singapore always faces new challenges like the effect caused by globalisation. Thus, during the recent Pre-U Seminar, Prime Minister Lee Hisen Loong addresses over 500 junior college and polytechnic students. Although I was not one of the honour students to be selected, I feel proud to be a Sinagaporean.
In the packed audtiorium at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Mr Lee outlined four key challenges that Singapore faces. They are to upgrade the economy, create a strong education system, build a cohesive society and improve the urban living environment.
How are we going to achieve these four key challenges?
Singapore's government have been trying their best to upgrade the economy by diversifying and managing its resources efficiently. Singapore's government aims to be a centre for technology-intensive, high value-added manufacturing activities such as chemical engineering and pharmaceuticals. Singapore had also opened two Integrated Resorts (IR) at Sentosa and Marina Bay to attract tourists to visit Singapore to increase Singapore's revenue.
Singapore's government opens up to new ideas and question old assumptions to create a strong education system. Recently, Singapore's government and the public were seen strongly debating about the weighting of Mother Tongue language for Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE). Thorough the debates and talks, Mother Tongue language will be taught in a new way to cater to differing abilities to meet the dynamic needs of the student population.
By having bilingualism, minority representation in parliament, self-help groups and developing common space, Singapore succeeded in building a cohensive society. However, building a relationship between racial and religious groups take years, while destroying one only takes seconds. Singapore being a multi-racial and multi-religious country will need to stay united to overcome any difficulties.
Improving the urban living environment in Singapore is hard, as 99% of Singapore land is urban area. Singapore's government and companies like Mediacorp are trying their best to increase the awareness of global warming and being environment friendly. Singaporeans are also doing their best to save the environment by doing the three Rs. They are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
By knowing how to tackle the four challenges for Singapore, I believe Singapore's stability and peace for the next century, living in the culture of our pledge will be in our good hands!

PM Lee outlines 4 key challenges for S'pore at Pre-U Seminar 2010
Let talk about upgrade of economy Singapore has show that their economy is doing well with positive growth after the Finical Crisis that hit us in the year of 2008. I believe that economy of Singapore will have pro n con as we always doing import and Export with other country so which mean we do not have much control but Singapore also start not to depend on Import and Export as we have 2 big IR that sure will bring in profit for Singapore.
Strong education system I felt this will be needed done slow and steady as kids nowadays has been saying STRESS this word that I myself also feel the stress that if I dun study now what will I be in the future so peoples asking their child to study a lot till case happen like jump down from high floor of Secondary school student as my secondary have 2 student jump down from high raise building and writing a letter saying that is too stressful to study already. One good will be our Marketing Rep as test approach us he will be stress up by studying till late night and mood also change.
Cohesive society is bond in the society and of citizen have skills and living together happily while we have difference group of people in Singapore we spoke to each other we share I felt it have been done very well. As for Singapore's PR will have to know and understand our society soon they will be just be the same as us.

Dell's Streak takes on iPad
HS1005
When I heard that Dell Streak is coming up, and is similar to Apple’s iPad, I thought, “Will Dell ever win Apple in this competition on who’s better? Nah! ”
Everyone knows that Apple has been one of the more preferred brands when it comes to technology. There have been other competitors trying to compete against Apple. An example would be the latest iPhone. Ever since iPhone has been able to bring technology to a higher level whereby ‘touch screen’ is possible, Google has also decided to launch another device similar to iPhone. However, iPhone obviously still reigns judging from its non-stopping popularity.
I must say that Apple is a very creative and productive company to be able to come up with another product known as iPad. Although I must say the name of it is ridiculous. The iPad has functions similar to iPhone but has a better graphic resolution and a better internet browser. Judging from the popularity of iPad, I think that’s why Dell decided to come up with one to compete against Apple and also to earn more profits of course. But, Dell’s Dell Streak is smaller in size and all which doesn’t have a better graphic resolution as compared to iPad. That’s when I know Apple is winning this battle.
See, consumers buy products which is the latest and also better than any other brand which has similar functions. Not forgetting that we use to go with the idea of branding. In this case, Apple is definitely on the winning side. That’s my point of view, so APPLE RULE THE WORLD!!!!
