I believe that most Singapore families have at least a desktop at home with internet connection.
The Internet is a hazardous, yet useful tool for people. People use the Internet to complete their research, as well as to make things easier in Life. For example, using online banking services to transfer money. It is hazardous because the Internet has many viruses that many people are unaware of.
Student nowadays go to websites that are either introduced by their peers, or enter these websites out of curiousity.
Most schools have also taken safety measures such as blocking some websites, when students use the computers. Be it in the computer lab or within the school compound. Some schools may have also provided their pupils cyber awareness talks.
This survey conducted also shows that parents do not spend enough time with their children. As most of them do not know what their child is surfing on the Net. Some parents should also take up basic computer lessons, so that they would understand what their child is doing on the Net.
However, with Internet access widely available, parents may find it difficult to monitor their child's behaviour.
Parents can download anti-virus softwares that prevent viruses from invading their computers. As well as, installing parental control systems. Whereby, it prevents access to certain websites. By doing so, they are ensured that their child is surfing the Net safely.
