2010 Oil Spill 10 June BP Spill Updates From Gulf of Mexico. We are entering day 2 of the oil spill and things are staying chaotic. The man heading the U.S. government’s response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has said that a newly-installed containment cap on the stricken BP rig is helping to limit the leak.
Top Houston attorney Tony Buzbee says that he has new evidence which indicates that Deepwater Horizon’s managers knew that the BP oil rig had major problems before its explosion on April 20th. Subsea oil plumes have now been discovered as far as 142 miles from the damaged rig.
There are stunning new photos emerging which reveal the horrific impact this oil spill has had on the wildlife of the Gulf coast. Local officials in Louisiana are becoming increasingly frustrated about how BP is handling this spill.
A senior BP executive has indicated that the oil washing up on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico could be just the start of a 50-day build-up of pollution. BP is being accused of trying to manipulate the search results on sites like Google and Yahoo, as it attempts to salvage its battered image following the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico.
Is the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico going to fundamentally change the oil and gas business? Matt Simmons, the chairman emeritus of Simmons & Co. International says that BP is “not going to last as a company more than a matter of months.”
